Barrington's White HousePrivate Events, Weddings

Barrington’s White House is a unique wedding venue in the heart of Barrington, Illinois. Here are 5 great reasons to select Barrington’s White House as your wedding venue (+ one more) and why brides are loving this Barrington venue for their weddings, rehearsal dinners, receptions and welcoming parties:

An Elegant, Intimate Venue

Barrington’s White House is perfect for smaller, more personal weddings, second weddings and wedding-related events. The 1st floor has multiple spaces with open access and includes a grand front porch that offers heating for the chilly weather. The 3rd floor Golden Ballroom formally seats 25 to 130 guests, complete with a dramatic, 16-foot ceiling, a dance floor and a drop-down screen for multi-media presentations. Each floor hosts private restrooms and the building has a large back entrance with an elevator for handicapped accessibility.

The Privacy

Barrington’s White House is a private venue and when you rent the whole House, it’s all yours — from the flowing rooms on the first floor to the Grand Ballroom on the 3rd floor. On your wedding day, the Bride’s Room becomes a sanctuary for your wedding party, complete with beautiful comfortable surroundings, plenty of mirrors, and a private restroom. There are quiet spaces for the special couple, wedding party and guests to have personal conversations. And unlike banquet halls, there will be no one in the room next door. This is your day and your House.

The History

On the National Register of Historic Places, this elegant mansion has been the crown jewel of Barrington for more than 100 years. Dating back to 1898 when John and Julia Robertson built their grand and architecturally significant home, the Robertsons were community leaders and gracious hosts, opening Barrington’s White House to many gatherings of the day. Through the dedication and generous contributions of many members of the Barrington community, Barrington’s White House has been returned to its former splendor, to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Flexible for your Wedding Reception, Ceremony and Rehearsal Dinner

Whether you are in need of gathering space for a welcoming reception, rehearsal dinner, or your special wedding, Barrington’s White House offers many options. Recently a soon-to-be married couple hosted their private rehearsal dinner in the 3rd floor ballroom only to walk down the staircase at the appointed hour to greet their friends on the 1st floor for a welcoming reception. Traditions are changing and welcoming receptions are a great way to host your out-of-town guests on the evening before the wedding. Barrington’s White House and its accommodating staff make everyone feel welcome.

Stunning Wedding and Engagement Photos

Brides and photographers love Barrington’s White House because it offers beautiful and unique photography opportunities: the spacious front porch and steps, as well as a cozy side porch; the grand quarter-turn stairway and landings; the mirrors of the Bride’s Room; the soft lighting of the 3rd floor ballroom; and all of the nooks and crannies of the private gathering spaces throughout the House. Photographers love all the architectural detailing and special spaces, offering the perfect backdrop for breathtaking wedding photography. Some couples just come to the House for photos.

One More Reason – Sustainability

For those interested in protecting the environment for future generations, Barrington’s White House is proud of its Gold LEED Certified status – the highest LEED certification possible. From the geothermal heating and cooling system, to the eco-friendly interior materials, to the native plantings on the property, Barrington’s White house is a friend to the environment. Awards include the American Public Works Association award for Historic Preservation, the Donald P. Klein Award, as well as the ALA Design Merit Award. Each award recognizes the impressive restoration and repurpose of the house for the community and future generations.
