Barrington’s White House Hosts 1st Birthday Bash for Let It Be Us

Barrington’s White House will be the site of what will be an annual event for one of Barrington’s newest nonprofits, Let It Be Us.  The nonprofit was formed by a group of Barrington residents one year ago and the event marks their first anniversary. The mission of Let It Be Us is the adoption and education of children in Illinois foster care.

“The 1st Birthday Bash is more of a friend raiser than a fund raiser,” according to Jennifer McAndrews, Board Chair of Let It Be Us. “We’ve reserved the whole house for the evening. Catering will be by Wild Asparagus and there will be an open bar with signature drinks and craft beer. Our band, Santah, is up and coming and they have written a new song just for us that will be played for the first time at this event!”

Wild Asparagus will present creative stations throughout Barrington’s White House rather than arranging a sit down dinner. “We want people to enjoy the entire house and be comfortable,” said McAndrews.

The band, Santah, was formed at the University of Illinois and plays throughout the country. Their music has a traditional feel with an alternative twist. They recently released a new album and a their new single can be heard below.

“Our first year has brought us unprecedented success,” says founder Susan McConnell. “We have forged partnerships with the State of Illinois as well as key social service agencies. Our programs are being welcomed by social workers and adoption recruiters and we are having a glorious impact on adoptions from foster care. I can’t imagine hosting our 1st Birthday Bash anywhere but in the heart of the town where all of our work began – Barrington.”

The Let It Be Us 1st Birthday Bash is scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 6:00 PM. Tickets are $125.
