Our area has borne the name “Barrington” for at least 175 years. How did that come to be? Was there a “Mr. Barrington” or a “Ms. Barrington?” If so, why did our area get the name, and what was their connection to us?
The answer lies in the early history of the Village of Barrington and colonial America– and surprisingly reaches across the sea to early Georgian England. This multi-media presentation will be given at the White House by Judge John Curry. A judge on the Circuit Court of Cook County, Curry obtained his degree in history from Northwestern University and remains an avid amateur historian. He has written a essay on the 1st and 2nd Viscounts Barrington and has visited the Barrington’s Becket Hall in Shrivenham, England. Join us as Curry shares his research at this fascinating event.
