The Wedding of Mari Leigh and Eric Wellin at Barrington’s White House

Amidst friends and music by the band Soda, Mari and Eric met at a local establishment 5 years before their wedding at Barrington’s White House. They fell in love and purchased an historic home in the Village of Barrington with the goal of becoming part of the community. “We both have always wanted to live in a community where you know your barista, your grocer, your dry cleaner. We knew the Village of Barrington was that kind of place,” said Mari.

They settled into their new beautiful home and time went by. Christmas was coming and all of their grown children were about to descend on Barrington and, as Eric put it, “This was going to be the perfect time for our wedding and we wanted our wedding at a venue that was vintage, historic, intimate, part of the community, and large enough to host all of our family and friends, and including was now our favorite band, Soda. Barrington’s White House simply spoke to us.”

Eric is a IT Architect and Deoitte & Touche and Mari is complex corporate and litigation attorney with her own firm. They had visited Barrington’s White House during an open house and they liked its vibe. “Eric and I are lovers of history, historic homes, and historic places. Barrington’s White House felt like it was home to us,” said Mari.

Mari wanted to incorporate her mother, who had passed away, into her special day. Photographer Lisa Kathan used portraits of Mari’s mother to cradle her into the wedding.

Working together with Jennifer Salvatore, the Hospitality Manager at Barrington’s White House, they designed a small, intimate and private wedding on the first floor, with a blowout party with their band, Soda, in the 3rd floor ballroom. “We wanted a caterer that could provide excellent food and not clutter up the party with formality,” said Eric. Mari, Eric and Jennifer selected Chef by Request, and they were glad they did.

Mari loves the grand staircase at Barrington’s White House and wanted to envelope them into her wedding photographs.

“Not a single thing went wrong,” said Eric. “The White House was dressed for Christmas, our whole family was in town, and we were having so much fun that ‘with the snap of my fingers’ it was 10:00pm and our wedding was almost over! It was simply the best wedding we’ve ever been to.”
