Paying attention is an endless occupation, says the watercolor artist Jane Christino. “We all look at the world around us, but what do we fully see? Consciously regarding nature, everyday objects, interiors, or landscapes allows them to reveal their subtle nuances, their histories and personalities, and their emotions. Taking time to look gives us the opportunity to see and to appreciate those qualities.”
“I grew up in Chicago, and my preoccupation with art spans from my childhood. I studied art all four years of high school, but I chose to study English in college. I taught high school English for more than thirty years, while habitually viewing art wherever and whenever I could. As an adult, I took up watercolor painting, and the discipline of the medium has helped me genuinely to look and see. I have enjoyed the opportunities that Citizens for Conservation has given me to share some of my work.”
