During Black History Month, we celebrate the many ways Black culture has shaped American culture and influenced the world — from food to music, science and literature. For this special edition of Courageous Conversations, we dine with special guest Chef Christian “Lucke” Bell from the upscale Atlanta restaurant, Oreatha’s at The Pointe, who will take us on his personal journey in developing a style of cooking that melds his southern roots and global influence. Chef Lucke brings a passion for food that was instilled in him at a young age by his parents and maternal grandmother, and influenced by his upbringing in what he describes as a “cultural melting pot” on Chicago’s northside, where families came from different places around the world. This fed Chef Lucke’s curiosity for cooking and led him to hone his own cooking style by fusing different flavors, textures, and food traditions with his own unique spin.
This Dinner & Dialogue is presented by Courageous Community, which gathers monthly at Barrington’s White House to explore how to foster greater inclusion and belonging. The series is made possible by your ticket purchase and generous support from Jessica & Dominic Green, Kim Duchossois, Tyler & Danielle Lenczuk, Cobey & Erich Struckmeyer, Susan & Rich Padula, Julie Kanak & Mike Rigali, Barrington Area Community Foundation, and BMO Wealth Management.
