Barrington’s White House has a rich history in Barrington, starting with its completion in 1898 by John Robertson, Jr. and his wife Julia, and built by master craftsman Fred Lines. In addition to being a private home, the mansion has served as a make-shift hospital during the WWI Flu Pandemic, a rest home and the home of Barrington Realty and other businesses. Purchased by the Village of Barrington in 2007, the mansion underwent an extensive and meticulous renovation, and reopened July 4, 2015 for Barrington’s 150th Anniversary.
The Home opened its first official season as Barrington’s Community and Cultural Center in 2016. Since then, it has offered a wide variety of performances, lectures and presentations, as well as serving as a meeting space for area businesses and non for profits. Barrington’s White House is available for rental for weddings, rehearsal dinners and welcome parties, corporate meetings, non-profit fundraisers and family celebrations.
