Join visual artist Judy Skulborstad for “Inside the Artist’s Studio,” a behind-the-scenes look at a visual artist’s workspace, motivations, inspirations and process. Judy will also share a peek at her completed works and discuss them.
Judy’s passion is to translate into a visual language those moments and visual delights that have forced her to stop, observe and connect. It’s the effect of light and atmosphere on a subject that inspires me. A lifelong love of nature’s beauty, traveling and color provide her with endless inspiration.
Judy has worked in oil, charcoal and pencil and sculpture, but pastel painting is her primary focus. She has exhibited in many group shows and had her first solo exhibition at the historic Railway Exchange Building (formerly Santa Fe bldg.) on Michigan Avenue directly across from the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work is hanging in that building and in private collections across the United States. Her studies have included study with Master Pastelists Sally Strand and Richard McKinley, Dawn Emerson, Margaret Dyer and Ilene Gienger and ongoing study with Kathleen Newman in Old Town.
Judy is an associate member of the Pastel Society of America Chicago Pastel Painters and a member Barrington Cultural Arts Center
