What could be better than the sounds of Broadway at the movies? On this special summer afternoon, perennial Barrington’s White House favorites William Powers, bass-baritone, and Michelle Areyzaga, soprano, blend their consummate vocal talents to bring to life your favorite tunes from the Great American Songbook. Accompanied by renowned pianist William Billingham, this trio will present selections from composers such as Richard Rodgers, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, the Gershwin’s, and more. Expect to hear some of your best-loved songs from the Golden Age of Broadway and classic films.
William Powers, a Chicago native, has had a distinguished career portraying opera’s most memorable rogues and villains, making his debut with New York City Opera in 1972. Michelle Areyzaga has been praised for her “radiant and all-encompassing soprano” (Chicago Tribune) and is recognized nationally and internationally for her expressive vocal artistry. William Billingham serves as assistant conductor and pianist with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and is a frequent collaborator with leading vocalists.
