Due to unforeseen circumstances, “Surprising Facts about Higher Education” presented by Northwestern’s Morton Schapiro is canceled for Sunday, May 15. At this time, the presentation will not be rescheduled.
American higher education today is a source of both pride and controversy, and seemingly everyone has a unique vantage point on how it should be organized and funded. Many debate whether a college degree should be essential for all citizens, whether its returns on investment are sufficient, and whether American colleges and universities can continue to thrive in the coming years. Morton Schapiro, president of Northwestern and a top expert on the economics of higher education, offers some surprising and encouraging insights and perspectives.
Morton Schapiro is among the nation’s leading authorities on the economics of higher education, with particular emphasis on college financing and affordability and on trends in educational costs and student aid. Our intimate ballroom is a wonderful place to hear this renowned professor discuss his perspectives on the humanities and economics. Enjoy a pre-lecture reception and meet-and-greet at 3:00 p.m. with President Schapiro and other Northwestern alumni, with the program to follow at 3:30 p.m.
