Musical Performance by Soprano Joanne McDade and Violinist Kate Carter

Barrington’s White House is pleased to present an intimate afternoon of musical offerings by soprano Joanne McDade and violinist Kate Carter.
Ms. McDade, a Barrington resident, will perform the song cycle La canzone dei ricordi, (The Song of Remembrance), by the Italian composer Giuseppe Martucci, a deeply emotional and colorfully dramatic work for voice and performance.
Ms. McDade will be joined by pianist Ken Smith.Ms. McDade teaches voice and piano at the Chicago School of Music and Elmhurst Music Academy. She has a MM in Vocal Performance and a MA in Piano Performance. Kenneth Smith has a MM from Indiana University and has performed recitals in Chicagoland and internationally both as a soloist and a collaborative artist.
Violinist Kate Carter and pianist Louise Chan, will perform one of the Ernest Bloch’s best-known works Baal Shem: Three Pictures of Hassidic Life. The work traverses a wide range of moods, from passionate and fiery, to hauntingly introspective, to joyful and celebratory.
Ms. Carter made her Carnegie Hall solo debut in 2014 and frequently appeared as soloist with the Elmhurst Symphony where she serves as Associate Concertmaster. She is currently on the artists/teaching faculties of Lake Forest College and Merit School of Music. Pianist Louise Chan has performed as a solo and chamber musician for audiences in the United States, Canada and France and is a faculty member at the Music Institute of Chicago. The two frequently perform as a violin and piano duo.
This will be the second performance by vocalist Joanne McDade and the first performance by these accomplished musicians at Barrington’s White House.
Tickets are available for $20 on line or at the door. Student tickets are available for $10.
