Join visual artist and Barrington’s White House favorite Steve Puttrich live from his home studio via Zoom, where he will give a mini demonstration of his oil painting process from initial sketch to underpainting and final touches, all within an hour.
His subject is a still life floral arrangement, “Lilacs in a Glass,” as a nod to Edouard Manet. During Manet’s last weeks of his life, his friends brought him flowers when he was sick at home, and so the renowned artist painted a series of flower still lifes.
Puttrich has showcased his extraordinary artwork at Barrington’s White House during our 3rd Thursdays Art Night Out series in the past, and he is honored to help the White House debut its new virtual offerings online during a time when so many people are at home, hungering for art, culture, and shared experiences.
Puttrich says, “Art for me is a way of connecting things. My intent with each piece of art is to capture and connect to the moment; connecting people in shared experiences, to this place and time. I’m partial toward painting landscapes. These beautiful scenes provide amazing contrasts of light, shadow, color and grays all offering great illustrations of life’s own journey. As elements of light and time displays shapes and movement, these same elements often mirroring our own storyline.”
