Michael painting In IrelandMichael Latala is an award winning Skokie artist working in oils and pastel ~ painting landscapes, figures and still life. Michael will be doing a demonstration of his work using Pastel and Conte’ Crayon on Pastel paper.

Michael received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and has studied with Richard Schmid, Burt Silverman, Scott Burdick, Romel De la Torre and Dan Gerhartz. Michael has had several exhibits of his work in the Chicago area, including the Chicago Cultural Center, the Irish American Heritage Center, the Beverly Art Center, Emily Oaks Nature Center and the Wilmette and Skokie Public Libraries.  In the commercial art industry, Michael still enjoys his career producing storyboard illustrations for national advertising agencies on accounts including Budweiser, Mcdonalds, SC Johnson, State Farm and US Cellular.  The excitement in sharing ideas gained through years of painting and techniques acquired from Master painters he’s been fortunate to study with is his motivation for teaching.

Michael is a member of the Chicago Pastel Painters, the Skokie Art Guild, the Pastel Society of America and Oil Painters of America.
