A Panel Discussion: U of Chicago’s Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression

May 17 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

University of Chicago luminaries discuss the university’s commitment to free inquiry and expression and its meaning on the national stage

The fundamental but often complicated concept of free speech has taken center stage in our national dialogue in recent years. In 2023, the University of Chicago launched its Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression, an initiative dedicated to shining a light on UChicago’s longstanding commitment to free expression (called the “Chicago Tradition”), which has brought the university global renown and produced nearly 100 Nobel Prize laureates. Tony Banout, the Chicago Forum’s inaugural Executive Director, will be joined by leading UChicago luminaries to discuss this important concept. Copies of the newly published Chicago Canon on Free Inquiry and Expression will be made available to all attendees.

NOTE: This event is entirely in-person. No virtual tickets are available. If you are having trouble registering, please contact us at culturalevents@barringtonswhitehouse.com or 224-512-4066.
