Ever wonder how an artist creates a painting? Now you can watch artists in action. Plein air artists – including Mort Luby, Steve Puttrich and Carol Foster — will be stationed outside throughout downtown to paint some of Barrington’s most iconic locations: Barrington’s White House, the Catlow and the Gazebo. You are welcome to stop to see the artists painting during the day using the “plein air” technique, which means “painting outdoors from life.” The painting takes place throughout the Village of Barrington from 1:00-4:00pm.
The Artist’s Reception and Recognition will take place on Thursday, August 16 at 4:00pm inside Barrington’s White House. That day’s plein air paintings, plus other works by the artists, will be on display for sale. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Register for this event here.
Awards will be given for the top three Plein Air painting. The judges are Thomas and Judy Skulborstad. Village President Karen Darch will be announcing the awards.
