3rd Thursday Art Night Out – Dynamics of Water & Light by Cindy Marrazzo
Engineer, scientist and artist Cindy Marrazzo says, “Art never fails to bring me happiness and renew my passion.”
Marrazzo combines her artistic expression with engineering background to deliver realistic details to every scene, while using darks and lights to provide amazing light. “The application of math and science in my design and drawing has helped me understand how water, skies and light move and relate to each other.” Her paintings represent the character and heart of the builder—whether Mother Nature or a gifted craftsman.
Most of Marrazzo’s childhood and high school years revolved around art. As a teen, Marrazzo received multiple awards; but when high school ended, instead of pursuing her artwork, Marrazzo enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, traveling throughout the US and exploring her love of nature and details.
Marrazzo started college in Architecture. She graduated with a degree in Fire Protection Engineering and worked with organizations such as NASA and JANNAF, performing explosives research, fire investigations, and programs for the stealth bomber and the shuttle. She did post graduate coursework in Biomechanical and Civil Engineering.
After thirty-six years of working as an engineer, raising children and Irish Wolfhounds, her art called her back. Marrazzo’s background as a US Marine and as an engineer influenced her style. “I apply my science and math education to my art.”
She often uses math in her designs to deliver realistic accurate details to every scene, while her use of darks and lights provide amazing light to her paintings. In those details, her paintings represent the character and heart of the builder, whether the builder is Mother Nature or a gifted craftsman. Her style makes the viewer feel like they are there with her, actually walking up the steps, admiring the architecture and craftsmanship, touching the flowers and enjoying the moment.
Marrazzu’s artwork can be found through the United States, Canada and Europe and is currently displayed at Barrington Bank & Trust, De Luna Fine Art Gallery in Freeport, Marrazzo Art Studios Gallery in Fox River Grove and Mixed Media in Douglas/Saugatuck Michigan.
